Abstract: Bacillothrips longiceps O. M. Reuter, 1901 is known to occur in the Mediterranean
region, but only a few specimens were collected sporadically (Ma rullo
1991, Priesner 1928, 1964, zur Strassen 1984, 1986). The second author
collected one female in the East Carpathians in the Munţii Vrancea in Culmea
Lă că uţi-Goru (near Sfântu Gheorghe) in a boggy area covered by cotton grass
(Erio phorum sp.), on 19th June, 2010. It is remarkable that the micro climatic conditions
of the former collecting sites are not known in detail. Th e description of
this dark bodied species comprises predominantly measurements and proportions
of external morphological features (Priesner 1928, 1964).Keywords: description, thrips, Bacillothips longiceps, Thysanoptera
