Abstract: Based on examples in Western Europe, the author stressed the importance of regular observation and recording of Lepidoptera showing migration (wandering) in Hungary. The countrywide light-trap network yielded many valuable data concerning the Lepidoptera attracted by light, whereas the informations are quite incomplete about the swarming (migration) of diurnal species and of nocturnal ones which are not, or only in small extent attracted by light. The author requests the amateur Lepidopterologists and professional entomologists to participate intensively in the observation of wandering Lepidoptera.
