Abstract: The tegumen defect of chirping Orthoptera influences sexual behaviour. As a consequence the males lose their "calling capacity" and become incompetent. This phenomenon may be observed in the case of Acheta desertus Pall. and Pteronemobius heydenii Fisch. The reversed position of the tegumen is regarded as an exceptional case and from point of view of sexual behaviour it has a negative effect. Of course, both under natural and laboratory conditions this type of disorder is comparatively rare among the species of suborder GryllineaJournal: Folia entomologica hungaricaJournal abbreviation: Folia ent. hung.ISSN: 0373-9465Publisher: , Editor(s): Papp, J.
