Abstract: During the summer of 1969, the author carried out investigations on flies developing in cattle droppings in a field of southern Transdanubia. The study discusses the results obtained in connection with faunistical, production bilogical and other relevant ecological observations. He har reared some 12.5 thousand flies belonging to 36 species, of which 3 proved to be new to the fauna of Hungary. They are Limosina collini Rich., Philocoprella quadrispina Laurence (Sphaeroceridae) and Azelia parva Rond. (Muscidae). Besides, the reared material yielded a number of exemplars so far considered to be scares. The data are presented in a taxonomical order. He compares the data from the literature with those of his log book and complements the former with his personal observations. The rearings supplied useful information to the precis identification of sepsis pilipes V. D. Wulp females wich heretofore presented some consternation, furthermore, additional data is given to the knowledge of morphology and systematics of some other species, too. In concluding, the author stresses the importance of such observations to be carried out in other parts of the country, and in different seasons, too.Journal: Folia entomologica hungaricaJournal abbreviation: Folia ent. hung.ISSN: 0373-9465Publisher: , Editor(s): Papp, J.
