Abstract: The Frivaldszky medal is 25 years old. The author gives a brief account on the history of the medal, that was first awarded in 1961. He quotes in full the text of the original document and writes in some detail about the life of Imre Frivaldszky who lay the foundations of the insect collection of the present-day Hungarian Natural History Museum.
