Abstract: Among the insects developing in the fruiting body of fungi, Diptera are both the most numerous and the most diverse regarding their species composition. The fungi populations living in the grass and moss layer of different habitats are the potential hosts-and hence microhabitats-of several Dipera. To investigate the fungicolous Diptera fruiting bodies of 344 taxa of fungi were collected from 132 sites in Hungary. From the examined 1305 samples nearly 50000 flies emerged (they belong to 140 determine species of 26 families). The zoological, ecological and plant protection aspects of the research were published more than 15 years ago. In this paper the mycological aspects of the data are evaluated, and a comprehensive summary of conclusions is given.Journal: Folia entomologica hungaricaJournal abbreviation: Folia ent. hung.ISSN: 0373-9465Publisher: , Editor(s): Mahunka, S.
