Abstract: Body lenght, pronotum lenght and promontum width in adult female and adult male host-specific flower thips were all strongly correlated with hostflower size. The six correlations were os similar strenght, so there were no indications as to the mechanisms involved in the size relationship with the host. the functoinal relationship between adult female body length and adult male body length was explored. Western Palaearctic species of Haplothrips without barbs on the wing fringe cilia showed a significant difference in the shape of the tube (abdominal segment 10), according to whether they normally live on flowers or leaves. This may be related to the use of the tube to probe small spaces before laying eggs in flowers.Journal: Folia entomologica hungaricaJournal abbreviation: Folia ent. hung.ISSN: 0373-9465Publisher: , Editor(s): Mahunka, S.
