Abstract: Host-specificity studies were performed for Ceranisus menes (Walker) and C. Americensis (Girault) (Hym.:Eulophidae) with the western flower thrips Frankliniella occidentalis (Pergande) and the onion thrips thrips tabaci (Lindeman) (Thysanoptera:Thripidae) as hosts. In no-choice experiments there was a clear inter- and intraspecific variation in relation to host acceptance. Direct observations showed that C. americensis performed better on F. occidentalis: during ine hour more larvae were parasitized than of a yellow colour-type of C. menes, whereas females of a brown colour-type of C. menes species can be used as a criterion to select species and strains of Ceranisus as potential biological control agents of thrips pests in greenhouses, in briefly addressed.Journal: Folia entomologica hungaricaJournal abbreviation: Folia ent. hung.ISSN: 0373-9465Publisher: , Editor(s): Mahunka, S.
