Abstract: Five new species of Newsteadia are described from the Oriental and the Palaearctic Regions. A key is presented for the identification of 8 species currently included in the genus from these regions. A modified concept of the genus is offered and some new characters are given as being diagnostic of the genus. The zoogeography of the genus is discussed.
