Abstract: Present paper gives a historical overview of the faunistics of curculionid beetles occurring in Villányi-hegység, S Hungray. The first faunistic records originate from 1896. Up to 1998, when the project of the systematic exploration of the fauna in the region has been started, the data are fragmentary. Hitherto 267 curculionoid beetle species are recorded, what is estimated to be the 50% of the whole Curculionoidea fauna. The species Tychius tridentinus Penecke, 1922 proved to be new for the fauna of Hungary.
