Abstract: The classical habitats of P. bryoniae marani, threatened by genetic crodation caused by hybridization with the invasive sister species P. napi Linnaeus, 1758, were monitored in the Bükk Mts during the years 1998 and 1999 (and repeadetly in 2000 and 2001) for locating populations with healthy gcen pool producing P. bryoniae phenotypes. Not a single population of P. bryoniae, neither that of hybrids was detected. It is presumed that the isolation of the P. bryoniae marani populations had not already been exsisting when exstensive entomological work started in the region. The species is considered to be extint from the fauna of Hungary.
