Abstract: The cicadellid Macrosteles sardus Ribaut, 1948 proved to be new species for the fauna of Hungary. It is recorded for the first time from the vicinity of Alsónémedi, county Pest. Certain genital characters of the species were confusingly documented in the literature. These are pointed out and corrected.
