Abstract: Helophorus croaticus, a new species for the fauna of Hungary, has been collected in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén and Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg counties (NE Hungary) between 1995 and 2002 by G. Hegyessy and Z. Csabai. Helophorus croaticus is a widespread species in the Palaearctic region and in Central Europe, therefore the Hungarian occurrence is not surprising.
