Abstract: Paraboreochlus minutissimus (Stróbl, 1894) was recorded from small streams in Zemplén Mountains and Aggtelek Karst (Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén county, NE Hungary), and Mecsek Mountains (Baranya County, S W Hungary) as the first known représentant of the chironomid subfamily Podonominae in Hungary. The species is also recorded for the first time from the Carpathian and Pannonian faunal regions.
