Title: Orthoptera and Mantodea of the East-Slovakian lowland (Východoslovenská nížina)
Year: 2004
Volume: 65
Pages: 43-54.

Abstract: Altogether 53 Orthoptera species(45% of the species recorded in Slovakia) and one species of Mantodea were found in 14 localities in the East-Slovakian lowland (E Slovakia) in 1997-2003. The rthoptera assemblages belonged to the three principal ecological groups: i/ blown sands, ii/ wetlands, iii/ saline localities. In sand localities there were characteristis the psudopsamophilus species: Dociostaurus brevicollis (frequency=92.8%), quite regular was also the occurence of Myrmeleotettix antennatus (28.6%), Platycleis montana (28.6%) and Omocetus petraeus (28.6%), rare was Platycleis affinis (7.1%).The hygrophilus species Ruspolia nitidulal, Xya pfaendleri and x. variegata, Conocephalus dorsalis, Tetrix bolivari, Leptophyes discoidalis were rare findings in wetlands. The assemblages of meadows and pastures on salt soils were quite regularly represented by the species Aiolopus thalassinus, Omocestus petraeus, a surprise was O. rufipes, and very abundant was Chorthippus albomarginatus. The current structure of the Orthoptera assemblages in the East-Slovakian lowland was compared with the state 40 and 50 years ago. Comments on the distribution, abundance and biology of six rare also given.
