Abstract: Eriogaster catax (LINNAEUS, 1758) is an endangered IUCN Red Listed species in the whole of Europe. It is also listed in the Annexes II and IV of the Habitats Directive (Natura 2000) and in the Annex II of the Bern Convention. It frequently occurs syntopically with Eriogaster lanestris (LINNAEUS, 1758). Both species are protected in Hungary. Distributional data from the Körös Valley (Southeastern Hungary) are presented, zoogeographical connection to the Bihor Mountains (Eastern Romania) is explained, and information about the threats to the species and conservation requirements is given.
