Abstract: The subspecies of Carabus (Morphocarabus) hampei KÜSTER, 1846 are discussed, their distributions are detailed in three countries in the Carpathian Basin. Of the 16 recognized subspecies only 11 are accepted as valid. Carabus hampei is one of the six strictly protected beetle species in Hungary. All the known localities are listed and mapped. With 15 figures.
