Abstract: An account is given of the incidence of poultry ascaridiosis in Hungary, the losses caused by it, and its treatment. In large scale farming only preventive treatment proved effective. Thus a medicated foodstuff containing any potent substance must be fed continuously at a subtherapeutic level which, on account of its consistent concentration kills sexually mature and immature worms, and the larvae as well. The aim of this method of therapy is to prevent infestations that produce clinical symptoms, to avoid the drop in production caused by subclinical infestation, and to prevent the premises from becoming infected. Favourable results of experiments carried out with Furidin and Rodan, two Hungarian preparations, are reported.
