Abstract: Drawing on recent published information and with due regard for Hungarian climatic conditions and methods of animal husbandry the author discusses the important factors influencing the epidemiology of trichostrongylidoses of ruminants. Ecological factors favouring the accumulation of third stage larvae are given special emphasis. For the correct evaluation of results of faecal examinations and for the institution of suitable therapeutic measures it is essential to have a thorough knowledge and appreciation of epidemiological conditions.
