Abstract: Therapeutic and prophylactic value of coccidiostatica on sale during the last 25 years has been discussed. Immunogenic effect of the “earlier type” coccidiostatics (sulphonamides, nitrophurane dérivates, Nicarbazin, Zoalen, Amprolium, etc.) was considered as a factor of basic importance at the initial stage of “industrial” poultry production. The use of the “recent type” coccidiostatics (buquinolate, methylbenzoquate, metichlorpindol, etc.) does not result in immunity. This handicap, however, is largely compensated by their advantageous effect or food conversion in the broiler production during the permanent application of these drugs from the hatching up to the slaughtering of the poultry. A combined application of the “earlier type” and “recent type” coccidiostatics is suggested for laying and breeding stocks.Journal: Parasitologia HungaricaJournal abbreviation: ISSN: 0303-688XPublisher: Népművelési Propaganda Iroda, BudapestEditor(s): Holló, F., Harsányi, L. & Nemes, I.
