Abstract: The author collected 141 individuals of 37 wild bird species in the environs of Bácsalmás (Com. Bács, Hungary). He established the incidence of infection of the species (62 per cent) and specimens (66 per cent) occurrence on the diverse body parts, and the maximum number of Mallophaga found on the individuals of the species studies (Cf. Table I, Column 5). Comparisons between the infection of young and adult specimens of certain species (Pica pica, Corvus frugilegus, Passer domesticus, Ixobrychus minutus) have also been made. Table II shows the Mallophaga infection of three bird species in spring, summer, autumn, and winter. The contribution is preliminary to a paper discussing the identification of Mallophaga species.
