Abstract: The authors give an account of the latest trends and results of research into the mechanism of antiparasitic agents. The disruptive effects of such drugs on the parasites’ carbohydrate and protein metabolism in consequence of direct glucose-absorption inhibition, protein precipitation and the selective of polyvalent inhibition of enzyme activity are reviewed. The importance of changes in permeability caused by physical and biochemical factors, and of the physicochemical features connected with the molecular structure in the operation of antiparasitic effects in discussed.
