Abstract: The author gives an account of the poor efficacy and unfavourable features of phenothiazine, which during the last fifteen years have directed attention in the field of pharmaceutical research towards the new anthelmintic agents against trichostrongylidosis. A brief review is given of the anthelmintic characteristics of phenothiazine, coumarino- and napthalophosphates, thiabendazole, pyrantel-tartrate and particularly teramisole. Figures show the efficacy of these drugs against various trichostrongylides and other gastrointestinal helminths. (Reading from the outside to the centre the circles show the activity of the drugs on mature, and immature worms, and on the later larval forms, respectively.) On the basis of the data reported in literature and those gained is his own experiments the author considers tetramisole to be the best anthelmintic against parasitic gastro-enteritis (and dictyocaulosis) in sheep in view of its broad spectrum and other features.
