Abstract: The authors carried out laboratory and field tests with Nexion 25 WP, Nexion 40 EC and Nexa-Pluid. The laboratory tests were made with concentrations of 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0% on filterpapers and sheets ply wood veneer. No difference in efficiency on the two surfaces was found. The agents showed strong insecticidal effect for 10-12 weeks at concentrations of both 1.0 and 2.0 %. In the field tests no substantial difference in the efficiency of spray and oil emulsions could be detected. Wall surfaces treated with the agents of 1,0 % and 2.0 % concentration proved to retain a good insecticidal effect for 10-12 weeks. Taking into account the porosity of the walls in the stables and barns sprayed in the tests, it was concluded that under Hungarian conditions the application of the agent with 2 % concentration is more favourable. Nexa-Fluid was effective for 4 weeks. From the point of view of public health bromophos is considered the best of the agents having organic phosphate-ester effect for destroying pestiferous insects, as it is of negligible toxicity for warm-blooded animals and possesses a rapid and long-lasting insecticidal effect. Its wider use in Hungary would thus seem advantageous and advisable.
