Abstract: Under the obligation of a departmental order issued in 1952, it is the duty of the veterinary surgeons to combat against hypodermatosis in this country. However, since neither due regard for the life cycle of the warble flies was shown earlier, nor practicable and effective drug was available, many efforts yielded unsatisfactory results. Considering some favourable field trials, a single treatment is suggested for every cattle in endemic area to be carried out during the autumn. The treatment with Ditriphon (= Neguvon), dissolved in dimethylsulphoxide and used as a “pour on” dressing, results in more than 99,8 % of efficiency provided that each animal receives the dose recommended, i. e., 50 mg per kg.
