Abstract: Coccidium species prevalent in sheep flocks of the U.A.R. were examined. The following 9 Eimeria-species have been found in faecal samples from a total of 570 ewes and 320 lambs: Eimeria arloingi, E. ninakohlyakimovae, E. parva, E. ahsata, E. crandallis, E. pallida, E. intricata, E. granulosa and E. faurei. 72.8 % of the ewes and 81.8 % of the lambs passed oocysts in their faeces. Comparison of the morphological data of oocysts with those described in the literature revealed that the variability was within the known limits. The patent and prepatent periods of the single species corresponded roughly with the data known from the literature, as assessed from infection experiments on lambs.
