Abstract: Dissection of an about 2-year-old beaver (Castor fiber), died due to trauma at Budapest Zoo, revealed grey-white or grey-yellowish inflammatory foci disseminated throughout the liver. In association with tissue destruction and infiltration by inflammatory cells of hepatic parenchyma, larvae and adults as well as fibrously encapsulated masses of eggs of the Nematoda C. hepatica were demonstrated in the liver by histo-pathological observation. From other organs of the same specimen no forms of the parasite could be detected. Castor was supposed to be infected from wild rats.
