Abstract: The incidence of human demodicosis in Hungary was studied. In the course of the investigation of 4-03 persons (24-8 men, 155 women; between 18 to 60 years of age) 225 (55.8 %) were found to be infected by Demodex mites. The parasites were most often recovered from the forehead, the nose and chin. The incidence of mite infection rises with age. The morphological characteristics of D. folliculorum and D. brevis are described. No pathological significance is attached to the presence of mild infection.
