Abstract: The Mallophaga fauna of 239 bird specimens representing to 63 species collected in South Hungary (Bácsalmás and its environment - com. Bács) were investigated by the author in the years 1968-1972. 133 specimens of 42 bird species were infested by Mallophaga. 2458 Mallophaga specimens representing to 57 species, 6 subspecies belonging to 32 genus and two families were determined. 15 species and 2 subspecies are new for the fauna of Hungary.
