Abstract: In this account presented by the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the foundation of the Hungarian Society of Parasitologists a historical background of its organisation is drawn and its major activities are surveyed by the honorary president of the Society. A favourable influence of functioning of the Society was seen on developments of both the research and practical work in parasitology, on teaching medical parasitology, on creating “Parasitologia Hungarica”, a new multilingual journal for the publication of contributions of Hungarian workers to the field, and on strenghtening the cooperation between Hungarian parasitologists and the international parasitological movements.
