Abstract: From 570 vole specimens (belonging to 7 species of Microtinae) 15 tapeworm species (7 in adult and 8 in larval form) were recorded in Hungary. Clethrionomys glareolus, Microtus arvalis, M. agrestis, M. oeconomus, Pitymys subterraneus and Ondatra zibethica were found to harbour 13, 10, 4, 1, 7 and 2 species of tapeworms, respectively. No tapeworms have been demonstrated from Arvicola terrestris. Adults of Catenotaenia cricetorum, Paranoplocephala brevis, Andrya sp., Aprostatandrya macrocephala, Hymenolepis horrida, H. asymmetrica and the larval form of Taenia crassiceps are usually found in voles only. Skrjabinotaenia lobata occurs only in voles living in close community with Apodemus species. The larvae of other Taeniid species and the Tetrathyridium of Mesocestoides have a wider range of hosts in rodents.
