Abstract: The cestode species M. symmetrica (Baylis, 1927) was first found by the author in rodents (Mus musculus spicilegus and Rattus norvegicus) in Europe. On the basis of the specimens collected in Hungary, the author describes a new subspecies under the name M. symmetrica occidentalis ssp.n.
