Abstract: A Pygmephorus material collected on specimens of Geomys bursarius illmoensis and G. bursarius missouriensis in Illinois and Missouri, USA, was found to represent four species, one of them new to science. No host specificity could be established, indeed Geomys bursarius proved to be a new host for the already known mite species.
