Abstract: An examination of the cellular hypersensitivity by using metabolic larval antigen (MLA) in the spleen fragment technique of the migration inhibition assay revealed no production of the migration inhibition factor during the intestinal phase of the infection. In contrast, marked inhibition could be demonstrated in the muscular phase (days 28 to 38 and on day 80) by both the direct and indirect migration inhibition tests. In studies with the capillary technique MLA was found to stimulate the in vitro migration of spleen cells of non infected rats. In antigen-free culture medium spleen cells from infected animals showed significantly enhanced migration in comparison to that of cells from non infected rats.
