Abstract: Post-mortem examination of 223 white rats arising from 8 laboratory stocks revealed the occurrence of Trichosomoides crassicauda in the urinary bladder of 92 (41, 6%) animals. On the average, 3 females were found per infected rat. First record of this parasite in Hungary. The morphology and the life cycle of the species is summed up. Home-made trichlorphon (“Ditrifon”, Chinoin) administered as 0,5% solution in drinking water for 3 days removed the parasite from 80% of the rats.
