Abstract: Viable eggs of B. gowkongensis could be detected from the faeces of Anas plathyrhynchos for 1 to 3 hours following their feeding with carps harbouring this parasite. Similarly, Bothriocephalus-eggs were demonstrated in the gut of a Chlidonias niger specimen. These observations seem to indicate that fish-eating aquatic birds may serve as vectors in transferring Bothriocephalus-infection to non endemic areas.
