Abstract: The report surveys the evidences suggesting clear distinction between synanthropic and sylvatic forms of trichinellosis caused by Trichinella spiralis (Owen, 1835) and T. nativa Britov and Boev, 1972, T. nelsoni Britov and Boev, 1972, T. pseudospiralis Garkavi, 1972, respectively. Morphological, genetical, ecological, synbiological and zoogeographical analysis of the individual Trichinella species is given. The epidemiological and clinical characteristics of the synanthropic and sylvatic type of human trichinellosis are also discussed.
