Abstract: An examination of 145 red deer revealed a 97.4% incidence of nasal-throat bot fly larvae of both Ph. picta and C. auribarbis in Hungary. Larvae of Ph. picta occur all the year round due to the long developing period in the host (from March till July). First, second and third stage larvae of C. auribarbis can be found from late May, late November and mid-December, respectively, the maturation of the bulk being observed from mid-February till mid-April. Control measures are suggested including chemotherapeutic treatment in November–December.
