Abstract: Serologic examination of 554 patients revealed 82 cases of verified trichinellosis. Diagnostic efficiency of the IHA test was superior to both CFR and MP tests. Seroconversion was detectable by IHA, MP and CFR from the 2nd, 3rd-5th and 4th-5th week postinfection, respectively, by the end of the 5th week all tests showed equally high diagnostic capacity. Reliable results were obtained by MP for 6-12 months and by IHA for 9-18 months postinfection. 12 cases could be detected solely by IHA, indicating that sensitivity of this test is superior to that of the others. On the other hand, in some instances aspecific positive IHA reactions were detected by the haemagglutination inhibition test. Parallel application of different serologic tests and different kinds of antigens is recommended.
