Abstract: 24 endoparasitic species were found as a result of a parasitological investigation of 374 specimens of European hare (Lepus europaeus) and 20 rabbits (Oryctolagus cunicuius) collected in Hungary. 9 coccidia, 1 trematode, 5 cestode and 9 nematode species were recorded. An incidence higher than 10% was shown by Eimeria europaea (14%), E. leporis (33%), E. sculpta (55%), E. semisculpta (23,4%), Cysticercus pisiformis (16%), Trichostrongylus retortaeformis (72%), Trichocephalus sylvilagi (59%) in the European hare, and Neoctenotaenia ctenoides (55%), Cysticercus pisiformis (35%), Trichostrongylus retortaeformis (35%) in the rabbit. The pathogenicity of these parasites is discussed.
