Abstract: Echinococcus granulosus occurs everywhere in the country, while E. multilocularis shows sporadic distribution (in Bosnia and Slovenia). Incidence of E . granulosus in dogs is as high (8-15%) as forty years ago. 40 to 80 and 10 to 40% of sheep and cattle, respectively, are known to harbour hydatidcysts causing considerable losses. Hydatidosis appear to declines harplyin large pig farms. During the last 15 years 2433 hydatid human patients were operated. Human taeniosis showes up to 3.2% distribution except in regions close to Albania where 48 to 51% of humans are infected. In the last two decades bovine cysticercosis declined from 24-40% to 0.2-3.5% due to control measures applied.
