Abstract: Routine diagnostical and home hygiene monitoring studies were carried out from 1379 to 1983, during the course of which microprecipitation tests were made on the blood serum samples of 2371 persons with larvae isolated from mice infected with Tosocara canis. A total of 19.8% of the reactions were positive. The age distribution of the positive cases showed that it is mainly the infant-juvenile age group which is most infected. A review of the Tosocara infestation of domestic dogs and cats is given and the importance of veterinary doctors in the prevention of human toxocariasis is emphasized. Keywords: serodiagnosis, tosocariasis, man, microprecipilation tests, Toxocara canis, dog, cat prevention
