Abstract: Seven variations of hybrids of common carp, grasscarp, bighead and silver carp were studied. Besides investigations of the parasite fauna of the hybrids, infection experiments were also carried out. It was found that all the parasite species that were able to infect both of the breeders also occurred in the hybrids. Of the parasite species with a strict host specificity (e. g. Dactylogyrus), usually only the parasites of the female breeder occurred in the hybrids. However, if the male and female breeder species are genetically closely related, the parasites characteristic for both the male and the female line can occur in the hybrids.Keywords: hybrid fishes, review of parasites, host-parasite relationship
