Abstract: During the 1 %year course of parasitological examination of house-dust samples, including more than 57 000 mites identified, a significant increase of Dermatophagoides farinae mites was observed in Hungary both in absolute number and in the frequency of occurrence. The place, the type of dwelling-houses or flats and the carpetfloor seem to be accountable factors. A widely organized cooperative research project is suggested to prevent asthmatic diseases by clarifying the actual relationship.
