Abstract: This is a review of the usage of some synbiological (ecological) terms in parasitology, particularly in Hungarian. The Margolis Committee’s report (Margolis et al., 1982) is reviewed in Hungarian with comments. Then some points of the views of the Ecological Committee of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences are cited. A consequent usage of the scientific term “model” and the importance of model applications in various fields of parasitology are stressed. Finally, the confusion of ideas of the “parasite” concept is represented by some examples.
Keywords: subspecies, synbiology, “ecology”, terminology, models in parasitology, term “parasite”
