Abstract: A rich material of parasitic mites of the suborder Mesostigmata was collected from the fur of 19 species of small mammals (insectivores and rodents) in 14 localities in Hungary between 1981 and 1985. A total of 4020 mites were identified as belonging to 39 species of 6 families: Parasitidae, Veigaiaidae, Aceoseidae, Rhodacaridae, Macrochelidae, Dermanyssidae. Species new to the fauna of Hungary include Cyrtolaelaps minor, Laelaps jettmari, and Laelaps micromydis.
