Abstract: Larvadex (cyromazine) was provided as feed additive (at 5 ppm AI) to caged laying hens for 5 weeks. The larvicide activity was tested with bioassay. Evaluation of the abundance of flies was by resting fly counts and spot cards methods. The obtained data showed that Larvadex has an excellent growth-inhibiting property against fly larvae breeding in poultry manure including house fly (Musca domestica) and lesser house fly (Fannia caniculans). Full larvicide effect was observed from the first week until the end of the feeding of Larvadex but disappeared after ceasing of treatment (sixth week). Adult fly community was markedly reduced not before 4 weeks of treatment. Therefore, at the beginning of feeding of Larvadex a simultaneous use of adulticides is also suggested against fly imagoes.
