Abstract: Taeniid larvae were found in the peritoneal cavity of Daurian pika (Ochotona daurica) in Mongolia. The encysted larvae have a pseudosegmented body, bladder and tail. The scolex is armed with two rows of long hooks with relatively long blade and short base, 34-38 in number. The length of large hooks ranges from 0.266 to 0.314 mm and that of small hooks from 0.155 to 0.212 mm. On the basis of the morphology and dimensions of the hooks, the larvae were identified as those of Taenia retracta Linstow, 1803. This finding of T. retracta in O. daurica represents a new intermediate host and geographic record.
