Abstract: The author deals in his paper with the data concerning the geographical distribution of the pine vole (Pitymus subterraneus De Selys-Longchamps) in Hungary as well as with the percentual relation of this species to that of the common vole (Microtus arvalis Pall.) on the basis of the pellets of the barn owl (Tyto alba Scop.) and the long-eared owl (Asio otus (L.)) The investigations resulted in the fact that the pine vole occurs in greatest abundance in Hungary on the middle and southern parts of Transdanubia and is on the Great Plains nearly everywhere a rarity, except for local gradations in this territory.
