Abstract: Studied was the variability of 23 metric and numerical characteristics as well as that of pileal shields and colour pattern of the back side on the basis of a material consisting of 239 specimens of Lacerta vivipara Jacquin originating from different localities of the whole area. A comparative analysis of the data clearly demonstrates the great variability of the species existing between populations from different localities as well as among the individuals of the same population. There is no sign of a racial differentation.
